Izzy's (Elm Street)

It's Friday! Today my friend Ray joined Glenn and myself as we visited Izzy's I have a confession to make. I have a not so secret addiction to Izzy's pickles! I could munch on them all day!

Besides the pickles to me at Izzy's it's all about the Corned Beef and of course the Potato Pancake! I do love it so.

Tina's

Today brings us to Tina's on the corner of 4th and Central. A popular hangout for Bengals fans for it's proximity to PBS. Also today "The Chief" join Glenn and myself as well. It's apopular place for him and his co-workers since it's a block from his work location. I chose the turkey club along with onion rings. Very tasty. Eric chose  the spicy chicken, Glenn the burger special. We all were pleased! Have a great Day!

Holy Grail in Downtown.

Today the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum released the 5th and final commemorative Johnny Bench bobblehead. Glenn and I collected the 4th one last month and we wanted to get this one as well. So right across the street from the Reds HOF is the Holy Grail. We been here a few times since the Grail opened last spring. You cannot beat the location if you are headed to the ballgame.

Glenn chose the pull pork sandwich and I had the double decker club.
The sandwiches were very tasty along with the saratoga chip we both had as well.

Jennifer's Service was excellent!

Springdale Hooters

Today found Glenn  and I in the Tri-County area. So we decided to complete the Cincy area trifecta of Hooters. So Springdale Hooters it was. Today's special was the "Jumbo Burger". At first there was a little confusion with the side items that came with it. Initially we close the cold slaw, but our very sweet waitress pointed out cold slaw wasn't part of the special. So we both decided to go with the fries instead.
Megan explains sorry guys no cold slaw!

The fries were just fine!

So actually the fries were better suited to go with the burger anyway!

Florence Hooters Yes Again!

Today Glenn and I traveled down to Florence Hooters to meet a former co-worker and now retiree Ron. Always good to see a former colleague. I have to tell you my choice was the chicken pasta salad! I'm hooked!!!

Glenn approves of this place!

Newport Hooters

Today takes us to Newport Hooters.
As you might have already guessed I'm a big fan of the franchise. Also today my cousin Eric has joined Glenn and I for our excursion across the mighty Ohio River. We ventured to the patio/deck section of the establishment overlooking  the river.
Mandi was our waitress

Chicken Strips

My grilled chicken pasta salad
I took Glenn's recommendation and chose the grilled chicken pasta salad, and Glenn did the same. Eric chose the fried chicken strips.

Actually today was a quiet Wednesday at Newport Hooters. The lunch was excellent and view of the Cincy skyline was very nice.

Sunshine Fine Foods

Today's entry will be one of my most visited spots. Sunshine Fine Foods Deli and Mart. Located on the corner or Elm and 8th Street in Downtown Cincy. Across the street from Garfield Place. The boys and I come here so often we feel like Norm from show "Cheers" They know our names. On Monday I like one of the 5 soups they offer. Creamy chicken with rice. Always great!
Specials are always displayed
on the sidewalk.

Florence Hooters

My cohort Glenn listens intently as Skipper
goes over the specials. His eyes drift elsewhere.
The Inagural What's for Lunch? review is Florence Hooters. Readers will soon find out this is a fave of said blogger here. Women say sexist! I say genius! Sure it's a guys place faggeddaboutit! The lunch specials are the usual fair here. The lovely Skipper was our waitress.

Glenn went with the Chicken Pasta Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette
dressing. I chose the Buffalo Shimp with the medium sauce along with curly french fries. Drinks were Ice water with lemon for Glenn. I chose unsweetend Iced Tea with lemon as well.

Our lunches were served in a timely fasion. They were excellent. Glenn raved as this was his healthiest lunch of the week!

As many readers can attest Hooters biggest selling point is it's atmosphere. Obviously is the Hooters Girls that make the atmosphere what it is. They humor middle aged men with great skill and ease.

Skipper (left) and her "twin" Miranda take the time to
pose (i.e. humor) for a snapshot for me.
Miranda wanted to join us for lunch.

So this concludes my first review for "Whats for Lunch" blog. Next week we will venture onto the banks of the Ohio River!

Welcome to my blog!

Hello my name is Mike, I've been working in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio for the better part of 20 years.
